March comic books / cómics de marzo

March was a month almost entirely devoted to sci-fi comic books. Alan Moore’s Miracleman continues to amaze me like no other comic could; while Moore’s Crossed Plus Hundred remains as my favorite current miniseries. Avengers # 35 was surprisingly good, but Invincible # 115 was even better. I also had the chance to read some very promising new series, such as Suiciders # 1 (a compelling story about a post-apocalyptical Los Angeles plus great art by Lee Bermejo), Shaper # 1 (an ambitious space odyssey written by Eric Heisserer and illustrated by Felipe Massafera) and, of course, Chrononauts # 1 a new miniseries about time travel that reunites two of my favorite authors: Mark Millar and Sean Murphy. However, if I had to choose the best issue of the month I think the award would go to Descender # 1 (by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen) an impressive futuristic tale about robots and intergalactic intrigues (and the art is top notch!). So without further ado here are March comics as per solicitations.

ALL NEW INVADERS #10
(W) James Robinson (A) Steve Pugh (CA) Michael Komarck. • The hunt for TORO! • JIM HAMMOND reprogrammed? • One of the 'band of brothers' a traitor? • The startling end of the DEATHLOK WAR and a Martian invasion? • This one has it all, even KILLRAVEN!!!

AVENGERS #35
(W) Jonathan Hickman (A/CA) Leinil Francis Yu. IN 8 MONTHS…TIME RUNS OUT!

CHRONONAUTS #1 (MR)
From MARK MILLAR (Kick-Ass) and SEAN GORDON MURPHY (Punk Rock Jesus) comes a bromance for the ages! Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly are two buddies who love to have fun. They're also scientific geniuses. When their research leads them to a time-traveling adventure, will they use their knowledge for the good of all mankind? Or use the space-time continuum for their own ends? This is the story of man's first, televised steps through the time-stream and everything going wrong in the process.

CROSSED PLUS 100 #3 AMERICAN HISTORY X WRAP CVR (MR)
(W) Alan Moore (A/CA) Gabriel Andrade. When human civilization is lost, does that mean we've lost our humanity® Alan Moore returns to monthly comics and puts his unique stamp upon the Crossed universe, as he and artist Gabriel Andrade paint a vivid picture of the future 100 years after the outbreak!  Future Taylor and her crew uncover a horrific nest and get forced into making some brutal choices.  Attempting to piece together the past and the history of the Crossed, Future Taylor is discovering the horrifying truth of the plague that nearly wiped out the human race.  This multi-layered story delivers a new brand of horror to Crossed fans at the hands of the scribe that redefined the comics medium.   This masterwork is a self-contained whole new world; no prior knowledge of the Crossed series is needed.  All the covers for the series have been planned out by Alan Moore, with the images enriching and expanding on the series.  Clues and glimpses of what came before, and what might be, are found throughout the variant covers.  American History X Wraparound - Each of these will depict a specific time in the past hundred years, showing how things have changed and offering a peek at some key events.  Each cover will display the year in which it takes place to help build the full picture.  Crossed Culture  - These are all images of how the Crossed have changed the way they live.  With few humans left to hunt,  and the animal kingdom thriving with predators, even the thrill-driven Crossed have had to make adjustments to their lifestyle.  Future Tense - Each cover is a homage to a famous work of science fiction, and each of those original works ties into themes of this series.  New World Order Wraparound - These are not for the faint of heart or delicate of constitution.  We can't even picture them in this catalog, they are visions of what an ideal all-Crossed world would be.  If the madmen have their dreams come true, what would the everyday life look like® These covers are brutally intense images of true horror and may have scenes of torture, depravity, and nudity. These are clearly for adults only.  Each copy of this edition will ship in a sealed polybag with a protective slip cover over the actual image to assure it can be racked in stores.  The graphic pictured here is the slip cover only.  Due to all these special protective measures this edition is strictly limited to initial orders.  Also available with  Retailer Incentive covers of Red Crossed and Design Sketch, showing the original works of series artist Gabriel Andrade.  Don't miss out on the ultra-rare CGC Numbered Edition as well!

SUICIDERS #1 (MR)
(W/A/CA) Lee Bermejo. In the post-apocalyptic city of New Angeles, killing isn't just a crime - it's entertainment.  When the 'big one' finally hit the West Coast, Los Angeles was left in ruins. And when the U.S. government decided to cut the city loose, things went from bad to worse. To survive, L.A. did what it does best: It turned survival into entertainment.  Now, thirty years later, the city of New Angeles is thriving once more thanks to the blood sport known as SUICIDERS - a TV series that combines the spectacle of hand-to-hand combat with elaborate, high-tech obstacles that test each competitor's ability to survive. But these competitors have an edge: They've been freakishly enhanced by drugs and technology. The results are both marvelous and monstrous, as the man called The Saint begins to rise above his fellow Suiciders.  SUICIDERS is a dark, post-apocalyptic epic that tells the story of a strange, brutal world, written and illustrated by Lee Bermejo, the #1 New York Times best-selling writer/artist behind JOKER, BATMAN: NOEL, LUTHOR and BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH.

WICKED & DIVINE #8 (MR)
(W) Kieron Gillen (A) Jamie McKelvie, Matthew Wilson (CA) Matthew Wilson, Jamie McKelvie. Now the eleventh god is here, it's time to party. You're invited. Everyone's invited. We can sleep when we're dead-but when you'll be dead within two years, you may as well turn up in your pyjamas. After seven issues of egomaniacs, it's time for an issue where the crowd is the star.
